rain, rain

It's been thundering and cloudy since lunch, and finally just started raining here. Cool breezes and lovely sounds come through the windows. It's been a wet summer here, and I'm loving it! I have to be inside most days, working away, and I'd rather it be cool and wet than hot and humid (especially since we don't have AC). Sometimes I wonder if there is anywhere that people don't complain about the current weather. Somehow it's always too hot, too cold, too wet, too dry! We always want the weather we're not having.

We have a lovely little thrift store in my town, and I visit it much too often. Once a week, usually. It's not big, and there isn't much selection, but somehow there is always something I find that's pretty, or useful, or just needs to come home with me. Lately I've been buying mostly clothes, because I've gotten to that stage in pregnancy where I'm growing out of all my favourite things. Today I found the sweetest top, with a ruffled collar and pineapples on it! I also snagged 2m of red and beige checked fabric. I'm not sure what it might become, but there's enough for a shirt, dress, or skirt.

The rain has already stopped, and the sun is out! Well, that wasn't even enough to get my pots of herbs wet! Ah well, I should get back to work. I'll leave you with a cute photo. This is Greta, our first cat. She tends to be on the grumpy side, but gives my husband lots of snuggles. She has rather short legs for a cat, and is a bit pudgy, so I like to make fun of her. She scowls at me, as if she understands :)

wow, the snow

I really wish we had a video camera, so you could see and hear the craziness outside my house. Wind and snow and ice pellets ripping down my street. Our street just happens to run the same way as the prevailing wind, so it really whips along. Also, because of where our front door is situated, the snow drifts into our doorway, and we often have to shovel ourselves out.

Today is the anniversary of our first date, and we had big plans if fun things to do in Montreal. After seeing the weather report, we opted for staying in and watching Star Trek and drinking champagne. Yes, I'm a big geek and love the original Star Trek series. The champagne was left over from our wedding reception and seemed a good accompaniment to the silliness on the TV.

snowed in

I am currently being snowed in by a crazy late-winter blizzard. Never fear, though! I am well stocked with yarn, videos, and snacks. I am working on the second of the surprise toys, and all is going very well :)

agh!

I hate being sick! This cold is kicking my butt all over the place, but hopefully this will be the worst day, and tomorrow I will start to get better.

I did manage to get the Cabled Cardigan listed in my Etsy shop, but not in my Lulu shop yet. My energy was at a premium today, and only the essentials got done.

We had a blustery snow storm here today, and I would have preferred to stay in, but clearly I have more fear of late fees than snow! We had a Star Trek marathon for our new year's eve fun (yes, I'm a big geek) and I needed to return the dvds this afternoon. It was so beautiful and quiet, with hardly a person or car in sight. The roads hadn't been ploughed yet and I got snow nearly to my knees! I would have stayed out to enjoy it more, but felt too sick to bother. We have a couple good months of winter left to enjoy, and hopefully this will be the only cold I get.

winter is here

The snow finally decided to take a break, and the sun even came out for several hours. Not having a dog, I took the camera out for a walk. I thought I would share some of the nicest photos with you.
