media

There's a short interview with me in this month's Let's Get Crafting: Knitting and Crochet magazine. It's fun to be asked to write these (even if I always worry about my grammar)! I think I can get this magazine in Montreal, but if you can't find it where you live, here's what the interview looks like:

And this is the cover page, so you can find the magazine more easily.

It's probably all things you already know about me if you've been reading this blog for a while. But I would recommend buying this issue just for that bit of stuffing tutorial you can see on the same page. It's such an important part of making toys!

happy halloween!

Brindle Bat wanted to stop by quickly to say, "Happy Halloween!" (she's knit from my Bat pattern - Rav link). I hope you all have a fun and spooky weekend!

Things have been a little quiet around here lately for a few reasons, but I should very soon have more time for thinking up fun and cute ideas for you! Lev is starting preschool next week - 2 days a week at a Montessori school. We hope this will give him the opportunity to socialize with other kids and adults, and learn a little too. It will also give me some much needed time to spend on Fuzzymitten stuff, which has been sadly neglected for too long.

I've missed blogging about knitting and all the other things I do (which you seem to enjoy reading about). I'm going to concentrate on thinking up some fun and useful items to post here leading up to the holiday season. There's at least one tutorial I've been meaning to get to for months...

One thing I can tell you about is a new hat pattern for kids and adults. I've been updating about that over on Facebook and Twitter. I have no photos yet, but it's a fairly simple and cute pattern that works for girls and boys of many ages. It should be ready sometime in November (I just need to get off the computer and actually knit the other 2 sizes).

That's all for now. Thanks for hanging out!

Social linkage

Just as a reminder -- if you are on Ravelry (and if not, how come you're not? :)), then remember to join the Fuzzy Mitten Toys group. There's frequently interesting stuff in the discussion forum -- tips, questions, toy swaps and knit-alongs.

Fuzzy Mitten is also on Facebook now, if you are already on there and don't feel like joining Ravelry. We just created the Facebook page, though, so there isn't much going on there yet.

ravelry fun

I forgot to mention that I was finally accepted to try out Ravelry, receiving the invitation on my wedding day, no less! Not that I think they had any idea about that :)

If you want to see what I'm working on, my name is fuzzymitten. Easy enough to remember :) I don't have too much time for adding my projects (the few I have) and yarn stash, so it looks a bit bare at the moment.

I wonder if I will waste as much time browsing through other people's projects as I do reading blogs every day? Not that reading blogs is a waste of time ;) I love finding out what other crafters are up to, and the feeling of community you get by knowing there are similar people out there who love the same things you do.

ooh, I feel special!

The aprons made by my lovely friends and me were featured on Sew, Mama, Sew! They did ask if they could use my photo, but I had no idea there would be such a nice little write-up about Fuzzy Mitten :)

If anyone is interested, I can give you the details on how we modified the apron pattern. It is a lovely one, and easy too. We mostly used thrifted fabric, since there's no reason to spend money on new fabric that will just end up stained. I try to use mine whenever I cook, and sometimes just wear it because it has cute octopusses on one side.
