I thought I would share with you the alpaca made by my test-knitter, ilovewool. You can see here she's wearing a lovely lacy dress while enjoying the summer flowers. While the dress can be knit in one colour, Maria chose to knit it in two (the pattern has instructions for both).
Here she is hanging out by a pool in her tankini. While Maria did knit a bikini top following the pattern, she also tried out her own version by adding some length to the bikini top. Perhaps if you ask her nicely on Ravelry, she will share how she modified the pattern.
And as a treat for all of you who continue to read my blog, even when I'm so busy, I'm giving away a free copy of the Alpaca pattern. Please leave a comment here (not on Facebook) telling me why you think alpacas are cute, or who you would knit one for. I'll choose a winner on Monday morning (Aug 9). As usual, please leave an email address, or check back here to see if you've won.
Happy weekend, everyone!
Well, I think your alpaca is adorable! She looks ready for the beach and that is my idea of a fun time!
My husband is from Chile (where you can find Alpacas!) so I would love to knit one for my daughter I would make the dress with the colors of the chilean flag, which is white, blue and red. :) - Anna Sophie
Adorable pattern - love the tankini! Alpaca is my favorite fiber, though living in Southern California, there's not much occasion to actually wear it. Knitting this little cutie would give me another excuse (besides cowls and mitts) to buy more alpaca yarn!
I'd love to knit an alpaca for my great-niece who will be 4 soon. I always try to find her something different and cute--this pattern is perfect!
I want a real alpaca but I suppose if you twisted my arm I could knit one :) Your alpaca is so sweet! I think a yellow polkadotted bikini would look awesome on her, maybe even dressing her up for halloween and christmas...hint, hint, hint ;)
I want to knit this adorable guy! I love Alpacas because they are so SOFT!
I love these photos. Love Angela Alpaca's hair - her most endearing feature. I just started to work with Alpaca wool and I love it. I'm a big softie so of course all wool I choose has to be soft, and this was surprisingly easy to work with. I think I would make it for my friend Angela. I know you named her after your friend so it seems fitting I would make one for mine...
I love your patterns! I usually make these for my kids & neices/nephews, but I want to make this little one for myself because it is so cute. I usually don't knit with alpaca but I'm definitely going to hit up my LYS as soon as I can get my hands on this pattern! I will continue to wait (im)patiently for it to be posted.
The alpaca is adorable! Her personality shines through. I'm already a huge fan and that I can knit my alpaca out of alpaca is just a bonus!
Too cute!!! I would knit one for my kids because they always love all the toy I know for them even if they turn out ugly.
I love alpacas when they get their hairs cut off and they have fluffy faces :) just like this little lady!!
I love the long neck and of course that hair!!!! She has lots of personality. I will knit one to add to my collection for my future grandchildren.
oh! very super cute!
Alpacas have the cutest expressions! I also love their gentleness. The fiber is so so soft and touchable too!
I love the alpacas that live across the road from me, they are the nosiest of neighbors I've ever seen but super cute! I would knit one for their owner!
She is just adorable - I have just knitted my first lamb from your pattern and would love to give her a go! My little girl is captivated! Thanks for all your inspirational patterns!
I love all your designs .. but I am realy in love love love with this alpaca. I would give this to my Son to knit (yes he can knit at 9yrs and he loves it) as he is stuck in with a broken collar bone this summer (school pe accident) and more than a bit glum .. this would cheer him up.
If I don't win then congradulations to the lucky winner !! I hope they send you a pic of the finnished alpaca.
Your alpaca is adorable because she remind me of a certain type of child -- long, skinny, big eyes with long lashes and a thistledown explosion of hair.
I would make your alpaca as a gift, specifically as a "I'm sorry I laughed when I heard you installed air conditioners in your alpaca barn" gift. It wasn't funny -- it just struck me that way. (I'm a little socially inept.)
Your alpaca is wonderful and looks everso like a real one (if they stood on their hind legs). I love here shock of combed out hair between her ears. I would knit an alpaca for my new granddaughter, Ella, for Christmas. She will be 6 mos by then and would enjoy it. Keep up the great work!
She is adorable and would make the perfect gift for my soon-to-be 1 year old Godchild :-)
Oh, for goodness sake - where did my comment go? You know I'm into ANYTHING you might be giving away, darlin'.
Alpaca's are just adorable and give such yummy soft yarn. This pattern is just too cute. I think I'd have to knit one for my sister in law who is just obsessed with alpaca's. She could be a friend for the fuzzy lamb I've already knitted for her!
My boys love animals, so I would knit one each, to show them that they can play with a "girl" doll 'cus she's so cute with those bangs! Though maybe not in a bikini... :D
Who can't help but fall in love with alpaca's faces. They're just too cute. Your alpaca has captured their sweetness. I love the little wave one of the alpaca is giving in a photo you posted.
I think alpacas are cute because they kind of remind me of giraffes. They are like the giraffes crazy misfit cousin with a funny hair-do. I want to knit an alpaca as a birthday present for myself since I don't have a cute baby to knit one for. I guess I could knit one for my grandma as well, since she taught me how to knit and appreciates cute little stuffed animals. Maybe the alpaca could keep company the little bear I made for her.
I also happen to have a ball of red-orange suri dream yarn, which might make a nice alpaca... although I did think it was quite clever to knit an alpaca out of alpaca
Oh how adorable! I would knit one for my friend Lori, who is going through a rough time right now. Her dream is to actually raise alpacas, but until then perhaps this lovely would make her smile and remember that dreams can come true..sometimes it just takes longer than we plan.
I would love to knit one of these for each of my children. It is just so cute.
OH! I love this pattern! she's so cute, it would be perfect for any kid. I love alpacas because they're hilarious and quirky without even trying :) plus they really are unexpectedly soft when you pet them!
